Manzullo: Unemployment Shoots Up to 10.2 Percent on Eve of Health Care Vote that Could Cost 5 Million More Jobs
Washington,
Nov 6 -
Congressman Don Manzullo (R-IL) today issued the following statement today on the news that Americans lost another 190,000 jobs in October, increasing the unemployment rate to a 26-year high of 10.2 percent:
STATEMENT
“On the eve of the government takeover of health care, we awoke to the news that another 190,000 Americans lost their jobs last month, surging the unemployment rate to a 26-year-high of 10.2 percent. At a time when Americans desperately need jobs, it is unfathomable that Democrat leaders are twisting arms to force a vote tomorrow on Speaker Pelosi’s $1 trillion health care bill loaded with tax hikes, mandates and penalties that will cost another 5 million Americans their jobs. This is on top of the cap and trade vote that threatens another 4.7 million jobs. We should be voting on bills to put Americans back to work, not put more Americans on the unemployment lines.”
